The Pioneer football team defeated Indianapolis Crispus Attucks 48-12 on Friday night in Indianapolis.

The Class 2A No. 3 Panthers (4-1) led the Class 4A Tigers (2-2) just 8-6 after one quarter of play. But the Panthers erupted in the second quarter to take a 30-6 lead at halftime. They led 42-6 after three.

According to stats provided by Hoosier Country 103.7-FM, Pioneer rushed for 316 yards on 28 carries, led by Brock Robinson’s 177 on 10 rushes, with touchdown runs of 12, 58 and 49 yards.

Ezra Lewellen rushed for 114 yards on six carries including a 69-yard TD run. Cayden Hill had TD runs of 2 and 13 yards.

Hill only threw twice, completing 1 of 2 for 5 yards.

Pioneer outgained the Tigers 321-170 in total yardage.

Pioneer is at Triton next week.

MCCUTCHEON 34, LOGAN 0

Brad Gagnon rushed for 263 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries to lead McCutcheon past visiting Logansport.

Ethan Smith was 12 of 19 passing for 135 yards and a score for the Mavericks (1-4, 1-2 NCC).

Gagnon scored on a 58-yard run on the second play from scrimmage to set the tone early.

McCutcheon led 20-0 after one quarter but Logan was able to keep the score remaining that way at halftime. But the Mavs scored a touchdown in the third and one more in the fourth for the final score of 34-0.

“We just put ourselves behind the eight-ball. But after that I think our defense really kind of settled down. We got some stops and we made some plays. The defense played well but when you don’t move the ball, it’s going to be tough for your defense. We have to figure out something for the offense,” Logan coach Mike Johnson told WSAL in a postgame interview.

Garrett Barron had a 37-yard completion to John Scott for the Berries (1-4, 0-3). Jeremiah Miller had 31 yards rushing on 13 carries.

LAVILLE 41, CASTON 6

Caston fell behind 35-0 at halftime in a loss at LaVille.

Sam Smith rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on 15 attempts for the Comets (1-4, 0-4 HNAC). Grant Hickle added 72 yards on 26 carries. Damian Sullivan rushed for 36 yards on two totes.

LaVille improved to 2-0 and 2-0 in league play.
