Trade deals will raise demand, prices for crops
Former Secretaries of Agriculture Ann Veneman and Dan Glickman recently wrote, "There's no sector of the U.S. economy where the link between trade and prosperity is clearer than in agriculture." They're absolutely right: increased trade is good for U.S. farmers and ranchers, especially here in Indiana.
Right now, members of Congress are preparing to vote on an important piece of legislation called Trade Promotion Authority. TPA allows Congress to have a final up or down vote on important trade deals being negotiated with countries around the world.
As an area farmer and dues paying member of the Indiana Soybean Alliance Board, I know just how important it is to find new markets for the corn and soybeans we grow. These trade deals will raise demand and prices for our crops.
Please call Senator Joe Donnelly at 202-224-4814 and Congressman Todd Rokita at 202-225-5037 and tell them to support Trade Promotion Authority. It is good for Indiana farmers and good for the Indiana economy.
