WALTON – One man remains in serious condition at Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital following a one-vehicle crash that may have involved alcohol.

At approximately 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, a 2008 Toyota driven by Sventsen Sakizzie, 26, of Peru, was eastbound on Indiana 218 when the car crossed the centerline and drove off the north side of the roadway, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. Sakizzie overcorrected and traveled across both lanes, driving off the south side of the roadway and striking a tree.

Sakizzie was flown via helicopter from the scene to Lutheran Hospital with life-threatening injuries, the CCSD stated.

The crash remains under investigation.

Responding agencies included the CCSD, Walton Volunteer Fire Department, Galveston Volunteer Fire Department, New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department, Logansport Fire Department, Logansport Police Department, Indiana State Police, and Phoenix Ambulance Service.
