State Representative Ethan Manning (R-Denver) officially filed paperwork last week to run for re-election in the 2020 Republican Primary Election.
Manning was first elected in 2018 to represent District 23, which includes portions of Miami, Cass, and Fulton Counties.
“This work is all about people. I’m so grateful for the support shown to me over the past two years and glad to have accomplished some of our goals, but there is so much more to be done,” he stated in an official announcement Monday. “I will continue to work hard on issues impacting us locally, such as the long-term planning for U.S. 31, and continue to support statewide policies such as increasing access to healthcare in shortage areas, asking for additional funding for our small and rural schools, maintaining a balanced budget, advocating for agriculture, protecting our Second Amendment rights and more.”
He serves as vice chairman of the Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee and is also a member of both the Public Health Committee and the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee in the House of Representatives.
“The best part of this job is helping constituents directly with issues they are having with state government. In the past two years, we’ve been able to help a family get their health insurance reinstated, help a local institution work through an appeals process successfully and take other actions to help when we can,” he stated.
“During the legislative session, I am willing to work with anyone who wants to improve the lives of Hoosiers. Working with both my Republican and Democrat colleagues is essential to representing our community and moving proposals forward that will benefit everyone. Outside of session, I am always excited to meet with school administrators, teachers, local business owners, large manufacturers, local elected officials and many other individuals and groups to learn about issues and what’s most important to them. Listening is another critical part of the job. I encourage anyone to contact me with questions or ideas. It’s an honor to represent our community as State Representative,” stated Manning.
Manning lives in Denver and grew up near Macy on his family farm, Manning Cattle Co. Prior to becoming a state representative, he was president of the Miami County Council. He is also an associate broker at Carriger Oldfather Realty and owns Manning Auctions.
In addition to being a state legislator, Manning serves as Chairman of the Miami County Republican Party and as a member of the Indiana Republican State Committee. He’s also a member of the Peru Rotary Club, Peru-Miami Masonic Lodge, the National Rifle Association, Indiana Farm Bureau and the Indiana Beef Cattle Association.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in business management from Western Governors University and is a graduate of North Miami High School.
Manning is engaged to Dr. Bridget Kennedy, and they plan to be married this summer.
