From staff reports

It is a race to the finish for work near Clymers at the largest economic development project in Cass County.

Logansport Municipal Utilities Superintendent Paul Hartman told the Logansport Utility Service Board Tuesday night it is a race LMU will win. He said delivery of equipment caused a slight delay, but LMU will be finished before The Andersons is finished with its portion of a new ethanol plant.

That plant is scheduled to open March 1.

At the last board meeting of 2006, board members also awarded contracts for chemical bids to all the lowest bidders.

Board President Dick Dilling read a letter from employee Steve Russell, who praised the utility employees and managers for the support shown to his family after his mother’s passing. Dilling said the support shown Russell, an employee for over 20 years, reflects the kind of team attitude he wanted LMU to have in Hartman’s first year at the helm of LMU.
