A high speed police chase on U.S. 35 Tuesday afternoon led to an SUV flipping over, a foot chase and one person being airlifted to Fort Wayne.

The chase began at about 4 p.m. east of Logansport, according to initial police reports.

When the highway turned into a four lane, the SUV driver was going on the wrong side, against traffic, said Logansport Police Sgt. Travis Nolte.

When the SUV driver reached the Morgan Hill Road intersection, he drove across the median, leaving tire tracks through it as police followed.

Just in front of the Ivy Tech campus, the SUV went off the road, went through the ditch and flipped.

Someone ran from the vehicle toward the entrance road to Ivy Tech.

Nolte said there were two people in the vehicle and none of their injuries were life threatening.

The driver had an arrest warrant on him, Nolte said.

Officers were searching the field between the accident site and the Ivy Tech entrance after a medical helicopter took off from the scene just after 5 p.m.

The chase and resulting investigation included Indiana State Troopers and officers from the Logansport and Galveston police departments.

Nolte said officials would release a complete statement on Wednesday.
