White County law enforcement say a semi-trailer hauling hogs to a pork processing plant overturned on Ind. 16 Thursday morning.
The county's 911 Communications Center dispatched officers just after 9 a.m. Aug. 31 to check out a report of a crashed semi at Ind. 16 where it crosses 800 North, according to a news release from Sheriff Pat Shafer's office.
Police believe the semi, a white 2013 Volvo, was headed northeast on Ind. 16 and went off the east side of the road as it rounded a curve.
The semi's driver, 18-year-old Kyle J. Rich of Francesville, was transported to IU Health White Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, police said. He was treated and released.
The semi was carrying about 160 hogs when it crashed, according to the release. Traffic was down to one lane for about 8 hours while White County Sheriff's Deputy Brandon McLeland conducted his investigation.
Several other departments assisted at the scene, including Monticello Fire, Indiana State Police, White County Environmental Officer, Monon Volunteer Fire, Monon First Response and the White County Emergency Management Agency.
