The hotel at the old Logansport Mall will be a Hampton Inn by Hilton, and the developers are planning to break ground on it in spring 2021.

The hotel will have 99 rooms, an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, meeting room and board room, according to a press release received Tuesday evening.

It will be built where the empty building that used to house J.C. Penny is.

The developer is Sulai Hospitality, which has sister properties in Wabash and Marion, and the firm has bought the property from new mall owner Park Development LLC.

Park Development is a Chicago-based real-estate developer that bought the mall property Feb. 21 as “3900 E Market Street LLC.”

The mall is being redesigned as The Junction at Logansport, and the southern part of the mall is being removed, turning it into more of a single-design strip mall.

More will come today, including a concept drawing of the planned hotel.
