Senior Drive-Thru Expo

A Senior Drive-Thru Expo takes place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at Riverside Park. Seniors and their adult children who are interested in attending should come to the service road that runs between the McHale Complex and the miniature golf course. Information will be available on services that are offered to seniors in our community.

The first 75 attendees will be given a bag with information and goodies from area providers of senior care services. There will be no need to get out of the car. Call Maria Rogers at 765-480-3187 for more info.

Logansport Rose Society meeting

The Logansport Rose Society will meet today at the Logansport Public Library, 616 East Broadway. There will be a half-hour social time starting at 6 p.m., followed by the meeting at 6:30. The topic will be regarding the care of the roses at the Cass County Historical Society. If you have any questions, contact Christi Rans at 574-889-2219.

Make and Bake Auction

Walton Christian Church is hosting a Make and Bake Auction today. Home-baked good and hand-crafted items will be available. Ben’s Famous Ranchburgers are being sold, and there will also be free snacks and drinks. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the auction to begin at 6 p.m.

Memorial Hospital Holly Bazaar

The Logansport Memorial Hospital gift shop will hold its annual Holly Bazaar from 3 to 6 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the Medical Office Building East at the hospital campus, 1101 Michigan Ave.

Revenue from the Holly Bazaar supports patient care and service, and the event will feature unique holiday gifts, stocking stuffers, raffles, holiday décor and holiday harp music.

Christmas in the Park returns

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department and its Foundation are once again hosting Christmas in the Park holiday display of lights at Spencer Park.

High Street entrance will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning Friday through the holidays, until the lighting décor has been removed. Daytime park users should plan to park their vehicles on the north side of High Street or near the lower pavilion to utilize the park.

Art Association fall festival

Logansport Art Association at 424 Front St. is holding a Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The gallery will feature local crafters and vendors. There will be a $10 potato/soup bar from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., live demos and “make it/take its” all day.

Legion hosting ‘2-of-a-Kind’

The American Legion, 828 Burlington Ave., will host “2-of-a-Kind” Entertainment featuring Kenny Holcomb & Gil Noaker on Saturday. The event is open to the public and features a cash bar, raffles, snacks and more. Cover charge is $5. Call 574-753-8620 with any questions.

Loaves and Fishes meal

A Loaves and Fishes lunch sponsored by Faith Community Fellowship will be held at Faith Community Fellowship, 1007 17th St., from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Enter from Usher Street, through the parking lot, to the door with the sign. There will be seating inside, as well as a carry-out option.

Deer Creek monthly breakfast

Deer Creek Presbyterian Church, at 4450 North State Road 29 in Deer Creek, will host a pancake breakfast on Saturday. The church hosts a breakfast on the first Saturday of every month. A freewill offering will be taken for medical expenses for Parker Runyon, who is fighting cancer.

Menu includes biscuits and gravy, waffles, sausage and bacon, eggs, hash browns, fruit, coffee, juice and milk. Carryout is available.

Delphi fall trail hike

Tour two special archaeological discovery sites at 1 p.m. Saturday in Delphi. Group leaves from the parking area at Blue Bridge, 100 yards west of Pizza Hut. The public is invited. Narrated by Lois Johnston, this easy-level hike on stone trails will be two hours and will follow the visible prism of the Wabash & Erie Canal via the VanScoy Towpath Trail.

The walk features the archaeological discoveries documented 20 years ago by Dr. Wayne Bischoff. These National Register sites make this section one of the most unique areas along any canal in America.

Clocks set back on Sunday

Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday. Clocks should be set back and hour, officially going from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. at that time.

Deer Creek Spaghetti Supper

The Deer Creek Community Center is hosting a drive-thru Spaghetti Supper and Bake Sale from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10. Freewill donations will go to ongoing expenses and future building projects.

Logansport HS invites veterans

Logansport High School is inviting all Cass County veterans to attend a Veteran’s Day program on Thursday, Nov. 11.

Senior Master Sergeant Chris Miller will be the featured speaker for the event, which starts at 1 p.m. at the Logansport High School Berry Bowl. The faculty, staff, and students would like all interested veterans to attend and be recognized for their unselfish service and devotion to the country.

Peru music festival sets dates

The annual Dick Quigley Music Festival in Peru is set for three days over two weekends at the start of November.

Rob Noftsger’s Fascinating Rhythm at Peru Maennerchor, 154 S. Wabash St., is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7. The event will feature “the usual” carry-in dinner. At 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, Combo Night at Peru Maennerchor will feature the No Regrets Blues Band. The festival wraps up 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, with Big Band Night featuring the 19-piece Quigley Jazz Band at the Riverview Event Center.{/div} {div class=”subscriber-preview”}Admission is free.{/div}

Denim and Lace fundraiser

The Domestic Violence Task Force of Cass County Inc. will host its annual Denim and Lace fundraiser at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at the State Theatre.

The event will feature music by Almost There and The Flying Toasters.

Peru Holiday Show set

The Alpha Mu Sorority is sponsoring the 46th annual Holiday Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the First Bank of Berne Circus Festival Arena at 154 N. Broadway in Peru. Admission is free. There will be 60 vendors and door prize drawings.

Extension Homemakers craft show

The Cass County Extension Homemakers Annual Craft Show will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Cass County 4-H Community Building. There will be a variety of crafts and foods from Extension Homemaker clubs and area vendors/crafters, including Christmas items.

St. John’s Cemetery cleanup

Fall cleanup at St. John’s Cemetery will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13. Decorations to be saved should be removed prior to this date. Vendor reservations for fall show

The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #60, 828 Burlington Ave., Logansport, is accepting vendor reservations for tables at its Fall Fundraiser, Bazaar, Craft Show, Bake Sale, Silent Auction and More, to be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.

The cost is $25 per table or $30 with electric service, and space is limited. For more information, call 574-753-8620. The proceeds are used for Auxiliary Children’s Christmas Party and numerous veteran needs.

Fall Bazaar fundraiser

The Royal Center United Methodist Church is having a Fall Bazaar Fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 13. The proceeds will go to benefit the Young family, of Royal Center, to help with the cost of medical expenses that occurred recently. The church is still looking for vendors, and any interested vendors should call the office at 574-643-9300.

Anoka United breakfast

Anoka United Methodist Church will hold its monthly community breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, pancakes and French toast. All proceeds go to families in need for the holidays.

All Saints Christmas event

All Saints Catholic Church will present “O Holy Night: The Christmas Story in Scripture and Song” on Sunday, Nov. 28. The program, starting at 3 p.m., will include scripture readings, musical performances, and prayer. The presentation is free to the public; a freewill offering will be collected. A reception will follow.

The program will be based on the format of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, a traditional English service of Christmas Worship, formalized in England by the Anglican Church in 1880. In this program, each lesson will consist of a passage of scripture, a musical selection that celebrates or is derived from the scripture offered in that lesson, and will conclude with prayer. Each of the scripture passages will be read by Jeremy Hall. The musical selections will be sung by Elijah Bowen, Stephen Roger Kitts II and Todd Miller, accompanied by Michael Bowen, Ned Boyd, and Kimberly Rozzi Bowen.

Twelve Mile Christmas craft show

The Twelve Mile Christmas Craft Show will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the New Twelve Mile Community Building. The show features all artisan, handmade and craft vendors. Food will also be available.

Pancake & Whole Hog Sausage Day

Miami County 4-H Council’s 49th annual Pancake & Whole Hog Sausage day is set for 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Miami County Fairgrounds, 1029 West 200 North, Peru. Tickets for the drive-thru breakfast are $7. Extra fried patties are $1 each, and bulk meat sales are available.

Hunters can help the hungry

Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry reminds all hunters they have the option to donate deer to those struggling with hunger through its “Meat” the Need initiative. Just take your deer in to a participating meat processor and tell them you would like to donate it to Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry. There is no charge. After being processed, your donation will be given to local hunger relief agencies. Archery season began Oct. 1 and ends Jan. 2, 2022. Firearm season is Nov. 13-28 and muzzleloader season in Dec. 4-19.

Teen parent support group

Logansport Memorial Hospital offers a teen pregnancy and parenthood support group from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

The group meets in the Family Education Center on the second floor of Logansport Memorial Hospital and will offer mentorship, education and community resources for pregnant or parenting teens ages 13-20.

OB Nurse Practitioner Rachel Emery from the LMPN Women’s Health Center will lead the support meetings.

Grief recovery program

Grief Share grief recovery seminar and support group will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays now through Dec. 7 at Cross-Wind United Methodist Church, 616 Indiana 25 in Logansport.

CCVB accepting grant apps now

The Cass County Visitors Bureau (CCVB) will be awarding grants to events and attractions within Cass County to be used for marketing and out-of-county visitor experience enhancement. Grant requests will be considered and awarded by the Cass County Visitors Bureau Board of Directors.

Multiple grants will be awarded from this fund so that CCVB may assist a variety of organizations with events or attractions. These grants are very competitive, so it is recommended to submit grant applications at the earliest convenience.

Grant applications will be accepted throughout the year but must be received by the 20th of a month for consideration at the following month’s regularly scheduled meeting.
