STATEHOUSE — House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments for the 119th General Assembly. Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.
In addition to his recent leadership appointment as House Speaker Pro Tempore, State Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy) has been appointed to serve on the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, Environmental Affairs Committee and Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation.
Rep. Friend has served on the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee since 1992 when he was first elected to the Legislature.
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.Â
The 2015 legislative session begins at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015.
