Logansport police are continuing their search for a man who allegedly shot a man in Logansport Saturday evening.

Jose Manuel Gonzalez, 29, of Logansport is wanted on a warrant for Level 1 felony attempted murder, according to a Logansport Police Department news release.

He faces a sentence of 20 to 30 years if convicted of that crime.

Police were called to the 700 block of 13th Street at 5:33 p.m. Saturday and found the 30-year-old man with a gun wound in his abdomen.

The man was taken to Ascension St. Vincent hospital in Kokomo, then taken to a trauma center by life flight, said Logansport Detective 1st Sgt. Eric Smith.

Smith didn’t know to what hospital they took the victim or what his status was as of Monday afternoon.

Police also didn’t release his name.

The man was apparently involved in an altercation with Gonzalez, according to police.

Based on the initial investigation, Gonzalez shot the man during the altercation, then left the scene with a woman.

The female suspect, identified as Xochitl Luis-Antonio, 26, of the 500 block of 13th Street in Logansport, was arrested at her home on a warrant for Level 5 assisting a criminal activity, according to police.

Police officers did not find Gonzalez at her home.

Antonio’s initial hearing is 8 a.m. Tuesday, and she faces a sentence of one to six years if convicted.

She is being held on $2,000 cash or $10,000 surety bond.

All suspects are considered not guilty unless otherwise proven in a court of law.

The Logansport Police Department continues to investigate the situation.

Anyone with information should contact Detective 1st Sgt. Eric Smith at 574-753-4101 extension 208.
