One person was hospitalized Friday afternoon after a vehicle hit a utility pole.

At about 2:26 p.m., the driver of a 2002 Ford Explorer hit a utility pole and then the vehicle rolled on its side south of county roads 150 North and 600 East in Cass County.

The injuries were not life-threatening for Darlene Mettler, 73, of rural Logansport, according to a press release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Mettler was treated at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

The preliminary investigation by Cass County Deputy David Wells found that Mettler was driving the Explorer south on 600 East when she drove off the west side of the road and hit a Logansport Municipal Utilities pole.

The Explorer rolled onto the driver’s side after that.

“Mettler was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire personnel,” according to the press release.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash and asks anyone with additional information to contact hew office at 574-753-7800.

Along with Cass County deputies and Indiana State Police officers, the New Waverly Fire department, Walton Fire Department and Phoenix ambulance services were at the accident scene.
