The Light Up Logansport Parade is back.
After the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the 2020 event, the city hopes to return with its best offering yet at 6 p.m. Friday, with 50 entries in the parade.
The parade will start at Eighth Street and Broadway, moving west. The route then turns south onto Fourth Street before ending in the Farmers Market parking lot.
The parade will feature trucks, floats, walkers and semis. Logansport Rotary will be serving hot chocolate along the route. Streets will be closed off from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
County artist and Logansport native Grace Scott will be on the Diversified General Federal Credit Union float.
Others with entries in the parade include the Indiana National Guard, Tyson Foods, Andrew and Randi Bragg, from Marion, in their countrywide touring bus “The Mint Lebuski,” and a mother-daughter team with their two horses.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in their red Mustang convertible with their head elf, Bernard, chauffeuring them.
Security Federal Savings Bank’s main branch at 314 Fourth St. is hosting Santa Claus from 3 to 5 p.m. Kids can meet Santa, drop off their letters to Santa and take pictures with Old Saint Nick himself. Hot chocolate and candy canes will be available at the bank, which also has a float in the parade.
American Tool Time 2 from Logansport will have portable restrooms sitting in the Security Federal Parking Lot for parade use.
After the parade, the State Theatre will have a free family screening of “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” sponsored by Vibrant Events Catering. Also following the parade, the band Almost There will be performing at Bonus Pints.
