During National Healthcare Volunteer Week, April 19-23 this year, Logansport Memorial Hospital [LMH] recognized its nearly 50 volunteers.

In 2020, those volunteers gave more than 4,000 hours to LMH, even with the global pandemic and volunteer services temporarily suspended for their health and safety.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions and an abundance of caution for the volunteers’ health, the hospital cancelled the annual volunteer banquet, according to a announcement from the hospital.

However, it still wishes to recognize their work, first marking the occasion with the volunteers’ choice of a small gift of hand lotion or hand soap acknowledging “Hands Down, they are the Best Around!”

Also, the Top 10 service awards were given to the ten volunteers who donated the most hours in 2020, nearly 2,500 combined.

The top ten volunteers for their hours of service in 2020 were:

1. Barb Landis, 452.5 hours.

2. Deb Musall, 367 hours.

3. Bonnie Bowyer, 342 hours.

4. Paul Burk, 276.5 hours.

5. Herb Detrick, 241 hours.

6. Donna Geisler, 234 hours.

7. Ric Donnelly, 160.75 hours.

8. Skip Perry, 153 hours.

9. Tom Heath, 128 hours.

10. Dan Layman, 124.5 hours.
