Got some news you want to share?

The Pharos-Tribune wants to help. Send us your news about award winners, special events and good deeds. Typed or neatly written items are always welcome.

If your club has new officers, take a photo and send it to us. If your organization made a charitable contribution, send us a photo of the check presentation ceremony. If your group sponsors a highway cleanup, get a shot of the volunteers and send it in.

Whatever your news, we want to know about it.

If your school is having a spaghetti supper, your colleague got promoted or your professional organization is sponsoring a health fair, we’ll help you to spread the word about it.

If you’ve got it written, the hard part is over. There are lots of ways to get it to us.

The basics

• Keep it brief. Aim for less than 100 words. All items — including those we write ourselves — are edited for space.
• Type or print clearly.

Here’s a checklist of what your item should include:

• Who: Give the name of your group or the person being recognized.
• What: Tell us briefly about the event or the accomplishment you want to report.
• When: If you’re announcing an event, make sure to give us the time and date.
• Where: Tell us where the event will be, and don’t forget to include the address. Don’t forget to include the name and telephone number of someone we can call if we have questions.

Here’s an example:

“The New Club will have a car wash Saturday to raise money for college scholarships for area high school seniors. The event will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Joe’s Business at 0000 Main St. in Our Town. For information, call Joe Doe at (574) 000-0000.”

See, you can say a lot in just 48 words.
