Wrestling: No. 4-ranked Kings go 4-1 at Twin Lakes Duals

Lewis Cass’ wrestling team went 4-1 at the Twin Lakes Holiday Duals on Friday in Monticello.

The Kings, ranked No. 4 in Class A, defeated No. 8 North White (52-13), South Bend Clay (38-31), Covington (72-6) and North Putnam (77-6). Their lone loss was to Class 2A No. 8 Twin Lakes (41-27).

The Kings are now 15-1 on the season.

“We had a good win over North White in the first round. We lost our first dual meet of the season to Twin Lakes and I was curious to see how the kids would respond,” Cass coach Nate Burrous said. “I was very happy they came back fired up and wrestled hard the rest of the day.”

Drake Hall (113 pound weight class), Gabe Welch (152) and Levi Glassburn (195) went 5-0 on the day to lead the Kings. Welch improved to 20-0 on the season.

Jarrett Carden (126), Kolbie Cox (138), Brendan McGehee (160), John Hartley (182), Blaine Elliott (220) and Brock Reish (285) each went 4-1. Zach Layer (132) went 3-2. Cy Wise (120), Levi Grimm (145) and Hunter Clark (170) went 2-3.

Cass next competes at the Peru Super Duals on Jan. 11.
