Nearly 450 Cass County residents have cast their votes already for the coming municipal elections as early voting kicked off Monday.
Cass County Clerk Beth Liming said 305 ballots by mail have been returned and 143 people cast their votes Monday at the garage in the County Government Building. There are still about 100 absentee ballots left to be returned.
“The numbers are looking pretty good for a city election,” Liming said. “You get a nice day like this, people come in and pay their property taxes and then vote.”
Voters in Logansport will choose a mayor and six city council members, while those in Galveston will choose three town council members and those in Royal Center will elect a clerk-treasurer.
Liming said she hoped the momentum would carry on through Election Day.
“If we have that many tomorrow, it’s going to be a high turnout,” she said.
Absentee voting continues until noon on Nov. 7. Confined voting, or voting for those who are in the care of others, starts Thursday.
