Sinipiongi Canoe-A-Thon set for Aug. 2
The 2008 Sinipiongi Canoe-A-Thon is set for Aug. 2.
The canoe-a-thon, which is to benefit Riley Hospital for Children, is set to begin at at French Post Park and The Veterans Bridge at Delphi. The race will be approximately seven miles.

Lewis Cass youth football team taking registrations
The Lewis Cass youth football team is currently taking registrations for the 2008 season.
Students that turn 8 before May 31, 2008 through any students that turn 13 after Sept. 30, 2008 are eligible to play.

Caston youth football team taking registrations
The Caston Chargers youth football team is currently taking registrations for the 2008 season.
Students that turn 8 before May 31, 2008 through any students that turn 13 after Sept. 30, 2008 are eligible to play. The registration fee is $30 per player, which includes all equipment and uniforms. Checks should be payable to Cass County Youth Football.
Players must have a completed physical form before participation. The first practice will be on Aug. 2 from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Caston practice field.

Caston to host football camps
Caston is hosting both an elementary and junior high football camp from July 28 to Aug. 1.
The elementary camp is for any boy planning on playing football that will be in grades K-4. The camp will be held nightly from 5-6 p.m.
The junior high camp is for any boys planning on playing football that will be in grades 5-8. The camp will be held nightly from 6-7:30 p.m.
Cost is $12 per individual. The camps will be ran by members of the high school coaching staff.
Caston golf outing set for Aug. 23
The 11th annual Caston Comet Golf Tournament is set for Saturday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. at the Logansport Golf Club.
Proceeds go to benefit the Caston Athletic Department and the Caston Booster Club.
The format is a four-person scramble. Entry fee is $60, which includes golf, cart, towel donated by The Winning Edge, door prizes and a buffet after golf.
Awards include a $340 cash prize for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place. Prizes will also be given for longest drive, closest to pin and longest putt for men and women. Contests will be held for various holes.

Tower Park Triathlon for Kids set for Aug. 2
The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department will hold the first Tower Park Triathlon for Kids on Saturday, Aug. 2.
Athletes who are 18 years of age or younger can participate triathlon. Kids will be divided into their age groups and will be swimming, biking and running according to those groups. There will be three winners per age group for both males and females. T-shirts will also be given to each participant. More importantly, children will be able to partake in a healthy, life-long activity.
There is a $10 supply cost fee per participant and children will have to provide their own bikes and helmets, but Tower Park Pool will provide the rest. The swim will take place in the pool, while the biking and running will be around the three blocks of Tower Park.
Registration forms can be picked up at Tower Park Pool. Registration deadline is July 26. Late registration fee is $20.
