PUBLIC FORUM: Letters for July 2, 2013

Thanks for making golf outing event a success for hospital foundation

The 27th annual Logansport Memorial Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament held at Dykeman Golf Course in Logansport was very successful, raising $25,000 for the foundation. With a total of 38 teams playing, we had to break a two-way tie to determine first and second place. First-place winners were from Blue and Company, second-place winners were from the Dr. Dallis Bowditch team and third-place winners were from Security Federal.

Proceeds from the golf tournament help purchase hospital equipment and technology, student

scholarships and community-based healthcare initiatives. Participation from our sponsors and golfers assures that these programs will continue.

We appreciate the support we received this year. Corporate and event sponsors included Consolidated Union, SIHO Insurance Services, Dilling Group, Engineering Aggregates, Gentiva Hospice, Harrison-Metzger, Rans, Marocco Funeral Homes, Lincare Inc., Logansport Savings Bank, LPL Financial, MacAllister/CAT, McDonald’s, Mike Anderson Auto Group, Moake Park and SCO Engineering.

The 28th annual tournament will be June 18, 2014.

An independent opinion needed on proposed power plant

Kudos to the members of the Logansport city administration who attended the Q&A session held at the McHale Performing Arts Center. The event presented the opposition’s views on the proposed Pyrolyzer plant and gave the public an opportunity to ask, and get answers, to questions.

After listening to both sides, I must admit that I still do no know what the correct decision is, both have valid arguments to the pro and con. I would still like to have a third neutral party look at the proposal and give an opinion, that is why I have suggested to the mayor and city council to approach the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology and ask them to get involved in this project.
