Police Blotter, April 9, 2013

Friday

7:54 a.m. — Suspicious person/circumstances. Gundrum Funeral Home, 1601 E. Broadway. A funeral home employee reported three juveniles trying to steal an ashtray. Logansport Police Department.

11:27 a.m. — Crash. 3rd Street and Ottawa Street. Anthony Sutherland and Paul Hess, both of Logansport, collided. Hess complained for chest pain and was transported to Logansport Memorial Hospital in ambulance. LPD.

12:10 p.m. — Crash. 2300 block of E. Market Street. Deanna Hammons, Kerry Hults Thomas Binder, all of Logansport, were involved in a collision. LPD.

12:11 p.m. — Burglary. 2100 block of E. Broadway. A woman reported her residence was burglarized and clothes and money were stolen. LPD.

2:23 p.m. — Threatening. 1700 block of Commerce Street. A woman reported she was receiving harassing text messages from a woman stating she was going to beat her up and had placed a “hit” on her. LPD.

2:42 p.m. — Burglary. 0 block of E. Mildred St. A man reported electronic equipment was stolen from his residence. LPD.

3:46 p.m. — Disorderly conduct. 11th Street and North Street. A caller reported a large fist fight in intersection. Subjects were separated before officers arrived. LPD.

6:37 p.m. — Harassment. 1400 block of North Street. A woman reported verbally abusive juveniles. LPD.

7:23 p.m. — Criminal mischief. 1400 block of George Street. A woman reported damage to a garage window. LPD.

Saturday

3:59 a.m. — Domestic dispute. 1416 North St. A domestic dispute between a brother and sister. Parties were separated for the evening. LPD.

11:32 a.m. — Crash. George Street and Walnut Street. Jeffery Turner of Logansport reported he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle. He said the driver initially pulled over and then left in a hurried pace. LPD.

12:49 p.m. — Criminal mischief. 1300 block of Wright Street. A man reported his truck tire was vandalized while parked overnight.

5:46 p.m. — Crash. 9th Street and North Street. A vehicle driven by Jay Hirschauer of Logansport struck a bicycle driven by Shane Phillipy of Logansport. LPD.

6:37 p.m. — Juvenile problem. 1800 block of Smith Street. A man reported juveniles were inside a vacant apartment. A 13-year-old male was arrested for residential entry and criminal mischief. LPD.

10:24 p.m. — Battery. Pinecrest Apartments parking lot, 770 Crest Drive. Two male juveniles were involved in a physical altercation resulting in injury to one of the juveniles. LPD.

Sunday

11:34 a.m. — Theft, receiving stolen property. 1700 block of Spear Street. A man reported his mo-ped was stolen from his residence. LPD.

12:51 p.m. — Theft, receiving stolen property. 3300 block of 29 South. A woman reported her son’s laptop was stolen from a residence he was staying at. LPD.

6:26 p.m. — Arrest. John Jay Rose, 65, Logansport, was arrested on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, dealing methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance. LPD.

6:41 p.m. — Aggravated battery. 30 block of Eel River Avenue. A man reported he was stabbed by his girlfriend. The man was taken to emergency room for treatment. LPD.

7:01 p.m. — Arrest. Justin Rafael Birnell, 25, Walton, was arrested on a charge of battery. LPD.

8:00 p.m. — Arrest. Giselle Benitez, 20, Logansport, was arrested on charges of felony battery and residential entry. LPD.

Monday

12:32 a.m. — Suspicious person/circumstances. 100 block of 11th Street. A woman reported a window being out of place and a back door unsecured, which was previously locked. LPD.

5:52 a.m. — Theft, receiving stolen property. 100 block of E. Columbia St. A driver for Rosa’s Carriage reported theft of money from his money bag while transporting people about town. LPD.

9:12 a.m. — Medic assist. 3006 Valley View Drive. Cass County Fire District/New Waverly Fire Department.

9:36 p.m. — Dispatched to possible woods on fire, canceled en route. 2000 block of 24 West. CCFD/NWFD.

Sunday

10:16 a.m. — Medic assist. 24 West and 600 West. CCFD/NWFD.

4:40 p.m. — Assist EMS. W. 240 Mall Road. Logansport Fire Department.

6:44 p.m. — Assist EMS. W. Market Street bridge. LFD.

6:54 p.m. — Ditch fire. River Bluff Trail and Davis Road. CCFD/NWFD.
