Police have made an arrest based on a lead triggered by an item in the Police Reports in the Pharos-Tribune.
After reading the report in Wednesday’s edition, a Logansport resident contacted police to say she had information on the theft of two wedding rings.
Logansport police arrested 25-year-old Justina Dawn Farmer on Wednesday on charges of receiving stolen property and theft, both class D felonies.
On Tuesday, a woman had reported that two wedding rings valued at $200 were stolen from her residence in the 1700 block of High Street. She told police she placed them in her bedroom before leaving for the weekend. When she returned, they were gone and there was no sign of forced entry.
The woman who called police said Farmer had tried to sell her the rings, and when she declined, Farmer reportedly said she was going to pawn them.
Police went to a local pawn shop where they found the rings, along with a receipt for $50 that contained Farmer’s thumb print and personal information, according to police.
Farmer was booked into the Cass County Jail, where she was held without bond on a probation hold.
If convicted, she faces a sentencing range of six months to three years on each class D felony.
