Having an unsuspected or immediate need for medical attention can be a traumatic event for just about any person. In our current healthcare system, there are entirely too many unknowns. Whether it be sweeping legislation or the disappearance of the family physician’s office we visited for many years of our lives, there is no denying that the mechanisms of healthcare are changing.
One thing that has remained constant is the human connection. One of the most important pieces of that puzzle rests in the hands of nurses. Now, more than ever, nurses play pivotal roles in the delivery of healthcare. Many nurses serve on the front lines providing care, compassion and education to those they serve. Nurses also find themselves growing into more prevalent leadership positions. It’s comforting to know that many business decisions are being made by nurses who keep the needs of their patients close to their heart.
May 6 through the 12 is National Nurses Week. With that in mind, I would like to offer a sincere thank you to all of the nurses within our community. Nursing is at the heart of our business and we are grateful for the nurses on our team. We are also grateful for the opportunity to work with countless other nurses throughout the healthcare continuum. If you’re out and about this week, thank a nurse for all they do!
