Sick of hearing excuses for the high price of gas

I can’t remember when before the Irag war gas prices fluctuated so much. Let’s see now, let’s check out the reasons or excuses. Supply and demand, I suppose before the Irag war people didn’t go on vacations so nobody was using any oil.

Then we have refinery problems, never heard of that happening in the past. OK, now we had trouble in the Middle East, didn’t they always have problems? Prices still stayed low. I guess they ran out of excuses, so they have to think of new ones.

OK I got one: the price we have to pay our suppliers is exorbitant so we have to make up the difference until we empty our pumps. But this only applies to Logansport because other cities can purchase their gas at a lower price, duh! Now let’s get to the real reason: greed, greed, greed.

Then we can put some of the blame on the speculators if we got rid of them then that would solve half the problem. Oh yeah, there’s one other significant reason for the fluctuating gas prices, deregulation. You can blame our great President Ronald Reagan for that one, or was it Bill Clinton? I’m not a young man so my memory doesn’t always serve me right.

Now don’t count on our legislators fixing the problems I’ve seen too many of these Senate hearings between the oil tycoons and the senators quizzing them on the reasons for high gas prices. It’s really an embarrassing endeavor trying to convince us that they were making an effort to appease us, but all I hear is that they are falling over themselves apologizing for the questions they ask.
