Representatives failing their electorate
Where do I begin. Having just recently retired, I have a lot more time to watch the news. As people know that are at home most of the day, the news is on all day on some channels. I’m not going to say what channel I watch because I will immediately be judged as to what political party I am associated with. I think that most people would agree that some of our news channels are very biased in the views that they project.
I think that most people would agree that our elected officials in Washington are out of control. It is really clear to me that they have lost sight of what it takes to govern. I think that everyone would agree that we the people sent them there to legislate on all matters that are of interest to the United States of America.
It is impossible to govern when you shut the government down. Their only job is to govern. In essence, by doing this, they quit their job. What would happen if you were at work and you just stop working. Would your boss approve of this? When they stopped working by shutting the government down, they stopped doing the only one thing that they were sent there to do. Did we stop paying them? Would your boss stop paying you? I think that this only goes to prove that unfortunately they are not in government to do the job that we really sent them there to do. To govern.
I have never served in a political office but I have listened to people who want these jobs when they are campaigning. They will give us a hug amount of what they will do if they are elected. Just try and remember all the things that these elected officials said and the promises they gave to us the voters. My most trusted and best friend in life, my grandfather, always told me — Son, a man is only as good as his word.
Can we really blame them? Who holds them accountable when they don’t do what they say they were going to do? Who put them where they are. Who keeps hiring them back after they fail in doing what they promised they would do? Would your boss keep you in you position if you didn’t do your job? I would have a conversation with friends and family about politics, and without a doubt some complaining would surface. I had to just look them in the face and say, elections have consequences my friend.
We are the problem. We are making bad choices in the people we are sending to do these jobs that are so very important to our everyday lives. It doesn’t really matter what news that you watch, it matters that you get results from the people that you hired to do the job.
Interchange an accident waiting to happen
On Friday, Oct. 25, at 3:40 p.m. I was going north on Ind. 29 from work and at the new highway a pickup truck was stopped on the west side to cross Ind. 29 and a State Police car was behind him and didn’t even stop! He just followed the pick up right across 29. So many people are doing this and for a policeman to do it is not right. There will be a bad accident out there before long. If you are coming down the east side ramp and you stop at the white line you cannot see south because of the bridge pillars. The whole design is bad. Please put a light out there before it is too late.
