I wonder how old the city officials are and if they can remember when the downtown of Logansport was full of businesses, theaters, car dealers and dime stores. You could go to town on Saturday night and drive around and around trying to find a parking space. You would have to park three blocks away and walk back to shop.
There weren’t as many cars on road then and first thing, everyone was building east of town so they could shop. Then the downtown started making more parking spaces, less stores and there weren’t but about 12 places that have stayed at same place since I was a kid. China Lane, Fernbaugh, the banks, the Loupes office on Fourth Street, courthouse, City Building and State Theater.
Now car lots, no place but Marsh on Third Street to buy food, a CVS and lots more cars there and now officials want to tear it back to two-way so they don’t have to stand good on keeping it up. Ind. 25 should have been made a bypass of city like Kokomo is doing now, so the trucks could get around better. If we don’t have enough trouble finding houses for seniors, now they want to put senior housing on two and three floors. Why not put all business on third floor and let seniors have first floor for the elderly, disabled. It looks like the city officials aren’t looking out for anyone but themselves and that’s wrong.
