Letter writer omits details

The Nov. 15 Pharos-Tribune carried a letter from Dennis McGee attacking an earlier letter from Vic Heater (Pharos-Tribune, Nov. 10). Mr. Heater’s letter questioning global warming was well written and made some good points. And the answer from Dennis McGee? He states, without any proof whatsoever, that the scientists quoted by Heater took bribes to produce false reports.

The funniest line in the McGee letter is the accusation that Heater does not give “real background information” but McGee himself omits critical facts.

What does McGee leave out? That there are cycles of cooling and warming. From A.D. 900 to 1300, the earth was in a warming mode, followed by severe cooling until 1800. Since 1800, there has again been a warming trend. The real question is then whether man has anything to do with the current warming cycle.

The scientists quoted by Heater say that no one can prove that mankind has caused global warming; unable to answer a reasonable view with facts, McGee resorts to name-calling and accusations of bribery.

In 2008 Cathy Zoi became head of Al Gore's global warming institute and was given $300 million to spread the word about mankind causing the warming. A year ago, I wrote Zoi three times with a polite request. I noted the climate changes since A.D. 900 and asked for the name of a rigorous scientific study showing what the warming or cooling would be if mankind did not exist; such a report must be widely available if the public is to know the truth about global warming. Zoi arrogantly ignored the requests as did several other “experts” that I wrote.

As Mr. McGee obviously considers himself an expert, I am certain that he will publish the name of the study I have requested and how to obtain it. No doubt he will also give us a detailed report on the bribes paid to the scientists; these are very serious charges and need real proof, not just hot air in a letter to the editor.

Several thousand years ago much of Northern Indiana was covered by a thick glacier. Then the earth warmed up and the ice vanished. Mr. McGee will, I am sure, explain how mankind caused that warming trend. Too many Indian campfires?

18th Street project the wrong approach

Never should Logansport direct highway traffic into the city via 18th street. Small expense could tie in Third Street (Highway 17) allowing access to the new airport plus the highway hub at Third and Market streets.
