Elaine “Pat” D. Palm


INDIANAPOLIS — Elaine “Pat” D. Palm, 94, left this world as gently as she lived it on Dec. 31, 2012.

She was born April 29, 1918, in Elwood to Edward and Esta Finley. She graduated from Shortridge High School and attended Butler University where she joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

She was married to Charles R. “Chick” Garriott on April 15, 1939, until his untimely death in 1967. She then married Jonas E. Palm on Oct. 12, 1968, who passed away on July 17, 2007.

Pat worked part time at Blocks Department store in Glendale for eight years. She was also employed at several secretarial jobs as well as John Herron Art Museum, and as a receptionist at her beloved church, Northminster Presbyterian for 15 years, where she was a longtime devoted member. She volunteered for 25 years at Riley Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Barrett and son-in-law Robert, Logansport. Other survivors include grandchildren, Shelly Cummings, Erica Buba, Erin Dixon, Lisa McDonough, and Mark Elliott. Great-grandchildren include Stefan, Gavin, Kaden and Maren Buba, Connor and Rileigh Dixon, and Amber, Josh, and Jared McDonough. She has one great-great-grandson, Hunter McDonaugh. Her oldest daughter Sherri Elliott preceded her in death.

She will be sadly missed by all who loved her, which is nearly everyone who knew her.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
