Mary Victoria Ameen Bjorne, 86, Logansport, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, in her residence at the McKinney House.
Born May 23, 1926, in Ishpeming, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Manila Freethy Holmgren. She was married in 1947 to Howard Ameen, who preceded her in death in 1976. She was later married to Calvin Bjorne, who preceded her in death in May 2011.
A graduate of Ishpeming High School, Mary completed two years of nursing school. She worked for many years as a cook at the Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming, where her father also worked as a pharmacist.
Mary was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming, Mich. She loved to knit. Mary was also an excellent cook.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Joyce Ameen, Logansport, and Alan and Debbie Ameen, Applegate, Oreg.; brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Diane Holmgren, Prescott, Ariz.; sister, Shirley Ban, Cleveland, Ohio; sister-in-law, Marion Holmgren; six grandchildren, Derek (Becky) Sandstrom, Ryan (April) Sandstrom, Brad Sandstrom, Matt (Karmon) Nigg, Meghann Frisbie, Natalie Nigg; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded by one brother, John Holmgren, and one brother-in-law, Thomas Ban.
Private family services will be held in Ishpeming, Mich., at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fisher Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, Logansport.
