Marvin A. Piercy

MONTICELLO — Marvin A. Piercy, 83, Monticello, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Oct. 28, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born Sept. 20, 1930, in Cass County, to the late Hobert and Florida (Harlan) Piercy. On Sept. 15, 1951, in Monticello, he married Doris E. Musall. She survives.

Marvin was a 1948 graduate of Royal Centre High School of Royal Center.

He had lived in the Monticello community since 1953 to present.

Marvin was on the Monticello City Council for 12 years, serving from 1984 to 1996.

He had served as the Monticello City Council President the last four years of his term, serving as the Ward 4 Councilman.

He above all lived his faith in the Lord and was very intent on living the way the Lord intended.

Surviving is his wife, Doris E. Piercy of Monticello; children, Cathy (Kevin) Gross of Monticello; Douglas “Doug” (Christine “Chris) Piercy of Monticello; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Alberta Hoch of Logansport, and Norma Jean Feller of California; brother, Boyd (Nancy) Piercy of Kokomo; sisters-in-law, Donna Mae Piercy of Logansport, Frieda Piercy of North Carolina, Barbara Piercy of Ohio, Nona Orr of Francesville, and Dixie Geisler of Burnettsville; brothers-in-law, Bill (Erma) Musall of Monticello, and Ralph Musall of Florida.

Marvin was preceded in death by children, Dennis Marvin, Gwendolyn Kay and David Michael Piercy, sister, Leoda Osborn; brothers, Wallace, Wayne, Ivan, and Fred Piercy; sister-in-law, Betty Read; brothers-in-law, Clyde Hoch, Ernest Osborn, R. Lee Feller, Jim (Virginia) Musall and Doyle Geisler.

Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello, with the Rev. Jeff Messer officiating. Burial with full military rites by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard will follow at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the local Salvation Army or the White County Food Pantry.
