MONTICELLO — Helen F. Winings, 89, Monticello, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the I.U. Health White Memorial Hospital, Monticello.

She was born on Monday, Dec. 24, 1923, in Logansport to the late Clyde L. and Vida Marie (Smith) Murray. On April 21, 1946, in Logansport, she married Harry J. Winings. He passed away on Nov. 17, 1983.

Helen was a 1942 graduate of Logansport High School, Logansport. She had lived in Monticello since 1960, coming from Logansport.

Helen was a secretary for four different principals at Meadowlawn Elementary School in Monticello for 17 years. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, Monticello. Helen was also a member of Rainbow and Lunch Bunch of the church, the NIPSCO (Northern Indiana Public Service Company) Cracker Barrel Club and Crystal Chapter 165 Order of Eastern Star of Monticello. She was a volunteer for the White County Chapter of the American Cancer Society for numerous years, and had served as the treasurer for several years.

Survivors include sons, Jeff (wife Nancy) Winings of Frederick, Md., Mike (wife Pam) Winings of Logansport, and David (wife Sue) Winings of Monticello; grandson, Matthew (wife Roseanne) Winings of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Rachel Winings of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Henry and Kate Winings, both at home in Indianapolis; and sister-in-law, Tina Smith of Indianapolis.

Celebration of Life Service will be at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello, at 2 p.m. Sunday, with Rev. Brian Beeks of the Monticello United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Monticello United Methodist Church or to the wishes of the donor. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
