Charles R. Fear Jr.

KEWANNA — Charles R. Fear Jr., 87, Kewanna, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the Chase Center, Logansport.

He was born on June 18, 1926, in Starke County, the son of Charles F. and Minnie (Martin) Fear Sr. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II. On Oct. 26, 1946, in Fort Wayne, he married Shirley L. Christoph. She preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2012.

Mr. Fear had been a farmer, school bus driver and had been owner of Charles Fear & Sons Implement. He was a member of the Rochester Masonic Lodge F & A.M. 79, Shriners, Rochester Township Advisory Board, American Legion, Farmer’s Union, and had attended Trinity United Methodist Church and Fletcher’s Lake United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, attending Notre Dame girls’ basketball games and was active with the Democratic Party, where he was recipient of the Fulton County Democrat Man of the Year in August of 2013.

Survivors include his children, Ross and wife Bonnie Fear, Akron, Lynn Woosley, Surprise, Ariz., Stephen Fear, Kewanna, Larry J. Fear, Flora; grandchildren, Kris and wife Lisa Fear, Akron, Kerry Fear, Akron, Brenda and husband Tom Ras, St. Louis, Mo., Beth Good, Warsaw, Nesha and husband Tracy Skarbek, Rochester, Rena and husband Cory Markstahler, North Manchester, Barak and wife Jenifer Chandler, Macy, Lyn and husband Nick Shoemaker, Fort Wayne; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Delbert Fear; sisters, Marjorie Hazen and Mildred Green; and granddaughter, Tamara Lynn Hartle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Dave Sommers officiating.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the R & B Fear Scholarship Fund through the Northern Indiana Community Foundation.
