---- — Dorothy Evelyn Sadler
Dorothy Evelyn Sadler, 96, Peru, formerly of Logansport and Grass Creek, passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013.
Born Dec. 22, 1916, in Williamsburg, Mich., she was the daughter of Norman and Bertha Armstrong Grody.
At the age of 15, Dorothy married the love of her life, Edward Sadler, on Sept. 28, 1932, in Winamac. They lived happily ever after until Ed passed away Dec. 1, 2005.
Dorothy’s beauty shops in Logansport and Grass Creek were the haven for many men and women who enjoyed not only her art of hairdressing but her ability to laugh, listen and advise when appropriate.
Dorothy loved to prepare large meals for her family and friends, something she greatly missed doing these last few years. She loved garage sales and conducted many of her “Grannie’s Attic” sales at her big old farmhouse in Logansport.
Family and many friends will miss Dorothy’s sense of humor and ability to make everyone feel as if they were her best friend. She was a “listener extraodinaire” and had said that her purpose in life was to be available to her family and friends. She was always there to help them through whatever their needs may have been.
Dorothy leaves behind son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Jeri Sadler, Logansport; daughters, Beverly Hines and Donna Fields, both of Peru; and sister, Anna Nelson, Fla. In addition, there are seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-granddogs; and 17 great-great-grandchildren who are scattered from the East to West coasts, all of whom will miss Dorothy tremendously.
She was greeted in Heaven by Ed and their daughter Rosetta; her parents; two grandchildren; three brothers; a sister-in-law; a beloved aunt, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Dorothy’s funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Ron Jansen at 1 p.m. Thursday in Fisher Funeral Chapel, 1801 Chase Road, Logansport.
Interment will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blair Ridge Health Center/Catered Assisted Living activity fund or the Gentiva Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
