Services for Retta Mae Frye, 96, formerly of Logansport, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doug Mankell officiating.

She died peacefully in the early morning of Aug. 19, 2013, at Hickory Creek at Lebanon Nursing Home, Lebanon.

Born March 24, 1917, at Memorial Hospital in Logansport, she was the daughter of Forrest I. and Dottie M. (Felker) Lee.

She was first married to Robert D. Eckstein, who was killed in the South Pacific during World War II. They had a son, Larry. She later married Samuel Bailey Frye, who preceded her in death on April 23, 2008.

Retta Mae was a 1935 graduate of Logansport High School. During World War II, she worked at the Brooks Field Military Base in San Antonio and the RBM Manufacturing Co., Logansport. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are son, Larry R. Frye and his wife, Mary Lee (Woodruff); grandchildren, Nelson B. Frye and his wife, Rene, all of Zionsville; Christina M. (Frye) Smith, and her husband, Michael, Wentzville, Mo.; and great-grandchildren, Wesley R. Frye, Haley A. Frye, Insley L. Smith, and Carson M. Smith.

A sister, Wilma A. Harmon, and brother, John R. Lee, preceded her in death.

Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Kroeger Funeral Home.Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
