Eva Marie Williams

Eva Marie Williams of Logansport, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru. She had just celebrated her 100th birthday in July.

Born July 30, 1912 in Osceola, she was the daughter of Clarence and Ella Long Richards. On Aug. 27, 1932, she married L. Paul Williams, who preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1980.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and she labored beside her husband Paul for many years in farming, doing everything from delivering calves and butchering chickens to driving the tractor and gardening/canning. She retired in the winter to Marathon, Fla., volunteering her time to Fisherman’s Hospital, the Moose Lodge, and the Marathon Garden Club.

Her family and friends remember her most for her wonderful servant’s heart and unending hospitality. Her door was always open to every soul, friend or foe. Her hobbies included laundering, making homemade noodles and Key Lime Pie for family members, reading voraciously, playing solitaire and burning brush piles.

Surviving are one son, Richard Lynn Williams, Monticello; three daughters, Pattie Lou Melin, of Monticello, Pauline Kay Filgo, Dublin, Calif., and Mary Ellen Anderson, Walton; nine grandchildren: Richard L. Moore, Susan K. Mayhill, Daniel L. Williams, Dawn L. Smith, Donald J. Hendrixson, Robyn L. Regier, Robert B. Filgo, Jody L. Filgo, and Brandy S. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Ann, who died at nine days old; her son, David Lee Williams, who died in 1988; her grandson, John J. Melin, who died in 2011; one sister and two brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 15, 2012, in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, with Pastor Larry Fry, officiating. Interment will follow in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
