Royal Center — Donald W. Craig, 87, Royal Center, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, in Memorial Hospital.

Born April 12, 1925, in White County, he was the son of Charles William and Bertie Ella Spradlin Craig.

He was married July 21, 1979, to Frances L. Ross Elder, who survives.

Donald attended Logansport High School, where he left in 1943 to join the military, and served in the United States Navy Armed Guard during World War II.

After being discharged from military service in 1945, he returned to Logansport High School and graduated with the Class of 1946. He re-enlisted in the United States Navy and served until 1966.

Don was then employed at Wilson’s for approximately three years, followed by employment with J. W. Barr & Son Construction for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790, American Legion Post 60 and the Fleet Reserve Association. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 66, Eagles Aerie 323 and National Association for Uniformed Services (NAUS).

He was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Logansport.

Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-, great-great- and great-great-great nieces and nephews, and a special great-niece, Valerie Jones.

Preceding him in death was a half-brother, Silas Craig; half-sisters, Edith Bowman, Mable Nicols and Winona Widner; brothers, Clarence, Raymond and Willis Craig; sisters, Gertrude Overman and Gladys Prophet.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Horace Smith officiating. Burial with full military services will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Logansport Church of the Nazarene.
