Ronald Homburg

LOGANSPORT — Ronald Homburg, 77, Logansport, passed away at 9:21 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Oct. 19, 1935, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Merl and Helen Swing Homburg.

A 1953 graduate of Logansport High School, Ron served his country in the Army National Guard.

A lifelong farmer, Ron was very proud of his John Deere collection. Ron had served as a volunteer firefighter with the Clinton Township Fire Department.

A member of the First United Methodist Church, Ron enjoyed the music, the fellowship and especially the meals with his church family.

Ron was an avid tractor puller, pulling his 4020 John Deere all around the region.

He had been a member of the Tipton Masonic Lodge in Logansport, the Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite, The Murat Temple in Indianapolis and the Logansport Shrine Club where he was active in the Third Wheel Patrol for many years. He had also been active in the Evening Exchange Club.

His sense of humor endeared him to many and he enjoyed starting his morning with the Breakfast Club at McDonald’s.

Surviving are three daughters, Debra (J.R.) Lawhorne of Monticello, Kimberly (Tony) Kinney of Stuart, Fla. and Brittany (Nick) Herron of Lafayette; three sons, Timothy Homburg of Twelve Mile, Terry (Becky) Homburg of Logansport and John (Susan) Homburg of Twelve Mile; one sister, Judy (Bill) Bieker of Fort Wayne; one sister-in-law, Ethel Homburg of Logansport; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Tony H. Homburg; one brother, Paul Homburg; and one nephew, Paul David Homburg II.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dr. Dean Fager officiating. Interment will follow in the Shideler Cemetery, Logansport.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Department.
