Odus Gordon Raymer

Odus Gordon Raymer, 92, was called home to the opened arms of Jesus at 3:15 p.m. March 5, 2013.

His daughter, Wendy Rose, was by his side holding his hands while he peacefully passed away. He had been hospitalized with pneumonia a few days prior.

Odus was born in Denver, Ind. April 22, 1920, to Alfred and Phebe (Butt) Raymer. He was married to Isabelle Louise Dowdy June 18, 1939, in Logansport at the Pilgrim Holiness Church.

They had three children, Gilbert (1940), Nola (1942), and Wendy (Wilda) Rose (1952).

Odus retired in 1982 as a machinist for Logansport Machine Company in Logansport. He was an IAM member and an antique car collector. He was also a member of the Heartland Cruisers in Logansport, and a DMAC (Durant Motor Auto Club) member.

He faithfully attended the Riverview Wesleyan Church in Logansport for many years. He had many friends in Logansport where he had a woodworking shop making furniture and repairs until he was forced to retire at 88 due to declining health.

He regularly attended Cedar Ridge Christian Church in Broken Arrow, Okla., after going to live with his daughter and son-in-law in 2009.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, his son, Gilbert Dwight, who died in 1943 and his wife, Isabelle, who died in 2003. Six brothers and sisters, which included two step-siblings, also preceded him in death.

He leaves behind two daughters; the eldest, Nola Annette (Don) Stover, and grandchildren, Eve (Mabel) Evangeline, Victoria Rose, Gordon Dean, Debra Lynn, and Lyla Louise; great-grandchildren, Megan, Carrie, April, Amber, Eric, Roman, Brian and Brett; great-great-grandchildren, Audrey, Dylan, Destiny, Felicity, Madison, Makayla, Nyomie, and twins, Jessica and Jermayne (deceased).
