Harold E. McElheny Jr.


LOGANSPORT — Harold E. McElheny Jr., 84, Logansport, died at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor. 

He was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Logansport, to Harold E. Sr. and Bessie Moon McElheny. His first marriage was on July 7, 1951, to Betty L. Lones, who preceded in death Jan. 28, 1999. His second marriage was on June 30, 2001, in Lucerne, to L. Irene “Pickens” Swayzee, who preceded in death March 9, 2002.      

Harold retired from Co-Tronics and had also worked for Switches for almost 30 years.

He was a member of American Legion Post 60 and VFW Post 3790. Harold was a US Navy veteran.

Surviving are daughter, Rebecca McElheny, Monticello; son, Robert McElheny and wife, Vickie, Marion; companion, Patricia Floyd, Royal Center; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Edwards; one great-grandson, Christian Chandler; and one brother, Herbert McElheny.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Phillips officiating. Burial, with full military rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. 

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
