Lela Lucille Layman, 95, Peru, formerly Boswell, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru.
Born May 13, 1918, near Chili, she was the daughter of Oscar and Viola Martindale Musselman. On April 30, 1939, in Denver, she was married to Zainard Price Layman, who preceded her in death March 22, 2008.
Mrs. Layman was a member of the Boswell United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star in Otterbein and the Twelve Mile High School Class of 1936. Along with her husband, she was co-owner of Layman Farm Equipment, where she also was the bookkeeper.
She is survived by one sister, Marjorie Tomson of Denver; one sister-in-law, Eva Gilbert of Peru; and 14 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Velma Scott and Betty Smith.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Jeff Tomson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boswell United Methodist Church.
