Florence ‘Flossie’ Mae Busard Myers

Florence ‘Flossie’ Mae Busard Myers, Logansport, went home to be with the Lord at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Logansport.

Born May 25, 1919, in Cass County she was the daughter of the late Albert and Faye (Roller) Busard. On Sept. 17, 1938, she married Cecil William Myers and he preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1964. She was then married to Raymond Peter for 14 years.

Florence was a lifelong resident of Noble Township, Cass County, and was a 1937 graduate of Royal Center High School, Royal Center, Ind. Florence was a homemaker and formerly managed the Bob-O-Link in Royal Center for two years. She also worked at Little Jack’s and Streu’s grocery stores and was a cook at the Noble Township School. She also had the 4-H Fairgrounds food stand the first two years.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of Shiloh Christian Church where she attended since her birth and loved the traditions of the past. She participated on many committees and taught Bible school.

Florence volunteered many hours to the Red Cross blood drives and ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. She enjoyed quilting at Anoka Church. She loved music and enjoyed singing with her brother and sister in church. She also enjoyed dancing.

In 2003, she was the recipient of the Pharos-Tribune’s Good Neighbors award. Florence was a caregiver to many during their time of need. She loved baking pies, preparing food to share with others and sending cards and letters to others. Wherever she went she would always see someone to talk with and a story to share. Her life was a gift to many, a gift of loving, sharing, caring and giving.

Her most treasured role was serving as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved attending activities of her loved ones (horse racing, ballgames, semi-pulls) and cheering them with all her heart and or even the “tooting” her horn. She could often be found with her car full of her friends going out to eat and visiting others. Dining out was always followed by an ice cream cone.

Survivors include her children, Merle Myers, Logansport, Connie Cosgray, Monticello, and Gary “Turk” Myers and wife Pam, Logansport, son-in-law, Kevin Snyder, Logansport, and step-daughter, Raeanna Simmons and husband Mark, Columbus, step-son Robbie Peter and his wife Marilyn, Lafayette and sister-in-law, Edna Mae Busard, Logansport. She is also survived many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She had many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by daughter Karen Snyder, daughter-in-law Jackie Myers, brother, Rodney Busard, sisters, Opal Jackson and Alma Busard, brother-in-law Earl Jackson, and special friend Jim Archibald.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Shiloh Christian Church with Pastor Tim McKaig officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
