Robert A. “Bob” Knapp, 75, Logansport, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Bob was born to Alva Thomas Knapp and Genevieve (Dawold) Knapp June 26, 1938, in Logansport.
Bob served four years in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division, serving an 18-month tour in Korea. For the last 27 years, Bob owned Knapp’s Hardwood Floor Service and was a 50-year member of Carpenters Union Local 615. He also worked 31 years at Foster Flooring. He was an avid trap shooter and was a member of Izaak Walton League; L’Anguille Practical Pistol League and a proud member of the ATA and NRA. Bob was also a collector of John Deere antique 2-cycle tractors.
Survivors include seven children Gary (Connie) Knapp, Terry (Patty) Knapp, Jerry Dale (J.D.) Knapp and Robert A. (Bobby) Knapp II, all of Logansport; Sue (Wes Raderstorf) Rentfrow, Monticello; Kimberly (Andy) Tibbets, Westfield; John (Jackie) Knapp, Burlington; sister, Patty James of Logansport; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dogs Lucy and Louie.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carole (Ross) Knapp; sister, Sue Jones; brothers Jerry Dale Knapp and Tommy Lee Knapp; and grandson, Tye Rentfrow.
In his final act of giving, Bob chose to have his mortal remains donated to the IU Medical Center.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Izaak Walton League, Logansport.
