Darl D. Louthain, 85, Logansport, passed away at 1 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at his residence.
Born on Jan. 31, 1929, at home on the family farm in Twelve Mile, he was the son of the late Howard and Ethel (Sherrard) Louthain.
He was a graduate of Twelve Mile High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Coolbraugh as a fireman 2nd Class.
Darl retired from Rockwell. He never knew a stranger and lived for feeding all God’s creatures that lived around his home. Every morning like clockwork, they would come out to greet him.
He was a member of Corinth Brethren Church of Twelve Mile, VFW Post #3790, the American Legion Post #60, Knights of Columbus, and the Logansport Eagles Aerie #323.
Darl also enjoyed golfing and hunting.
Survivors include son, Jamie Louthain, daughters, Darla Crowe (Paul), and Vickie Wilson, all of Logansport; sisters, Jane Ann Andrews (Art), of South Carolina, Priscilla M. Frank, and Sharon K. Carter, both of Rochester; brothers, Merrill R. Louthain (Mary), and Donnie L. Louthain (Carole) all of Logansport.
He was also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son, Steve Louthain; daughter, Rhonda Kelley; and brothers, Russell L. Louthain, Raymond L. Louthain and James A. Louthain.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family at Security Federal Savings Bank where the Darl Louthain Memorial Fund has been established.
