Bess Hunt Austin


ST. CLOUD, Fla. — Bess Hunt Austin, 77, St. Cloud, Fla., went to be with her Lord Monday, April 1, 2013, after an extended ailment.

She was born May 20, 1935, in Logansport, Ind., the daughter of the late Kermit and Edith Hunt. She moved to the Central Florida area in 1973. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Cloud. Bess began working for Disney in 1978 and retired from there in November 2000 as an executive secretary.

In retirement, she enjoyed her grandchildren, the Disney Golden Ears Club and Campers on Mission. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of St. Cloud, Fla., and was a very loving and compassionate person and a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald A. Hunt; sister, Shirley Young; and nephews, Kevin Helvey and Shawn Hunt.

She is survived by her husband L. Harmon Austin, Jr.; brothers, Thomas (Pat) Hunt of Rolla, Mo., William Hunt, Logansport, and David (Kim) Hunt of Chesterton; sister, Carol (Ziny)Jones, Winamac; daughters, Diane Maxwell, Lake City, Fla., and Darla (Freddy) Whitcomb, Lake City, Fla.; sons, Joseph (Sue) Kline, Orlando, Fla., and John (Jessica) Kline, Saint Cloud, Fla.
