Mary Jane Brucker Perry

Mary Jane Brucker Perry, 88, Kewanna, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. She was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Monterey, to Albert Brucker and Lydia (Wade) Brucker, who preceded her in death.

She was raised on a Jersey dairy farm and attended school in Monterey. On Nov. 3, 1942, she married Lawrence J. Perry Sr. at St. Anne’s Church in Monterey. They celebrated 65 years together.  

For her entire life, Mary Jane was a homemaker devoted to her husband and eight children, owner of Maple Corner Antiques for several years, and together with her husband farmed Harrison Township land family owned for 95 years. Along with collecting, selling and exhibiting antiques, Mary Jane enjoyed working in her extensive flower gardens, playing euchre, entertaining family and friends and traveling. She was a past member of the Harrison Township Home Economics Club.

She was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kewanna, and a current member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac.

Mary Jane is survived by seven children, James (Mary Gudas), Piqua, Ohio, Rosemary (Stephen) Perry-Hessong, West Lafayette, Albert (Joyce Matteson) Perry, Evansville, Michael “Mick,” Winamac, Marilyn Galbreath, Vonore, Tenn., Kathleen (James) Weidner, Salem, Ill., and Jane (Ron) Becker, Zionsville; 20 grandchildren, Mary Eileen Miller, Lawrence J. Perry III, Christine Gladden, Theresa Whalen, Wayne Perry, Diana Perry, Michelle Balleck, Michael Yoder, Lesly Yoder-Norris, Christopher Perry, John Perry, Jennifer Gilliam, Stephanie Lemberis, Michael Perry Jr., Duane Galbreath Jr., Allison Galbreath, Lydia Weidner, Jack Weidner, Hannah Becker and Erica Becker; and 27 great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Perry Sr.; a son, Lawrence J. Perry Jr.; one grandson, Mark Perry; three sisters, Evelyn Reinholt, Madeline Danti and Alberta Miller; and one brother, Paul Brucker.  

Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with a Scriptural Wake Service held at 7:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday at Frain Mortuary. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. EDT Wednesday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Winamac.  

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to either: St. Peter’s Catholic Church or Sisters of Poor Clare, Belleville, Ill. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.frainmortuary.com. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary Inc., 305 E. Main St., Winamac, IN.
