NORTH MANCHESTER —
Homer L. Fry, 85, North Manchester, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
Born Aug. 24, 1927, in Clinton Township, he was the son of the late Maye (Cree) and Joseph Fry. He married Rosetta I. Eller Sept. 14, 1952. She survives.
In 1990, both Homer and Rosetta, went to Brethren volunteer service for more than two years, first to San Antonia, Texas and later to Fairfield, Penn. They traveled to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada and much of Europe.
In 1949, he started working in a paint and wallpaper store and that continued 16 years. From 1965 to 1990, he was a switching equipment technician for Indiana Bell Telephone Co., now AT&T.
He was a member of Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, Liberty Mills, Ind. He served on the board of Weekday Religious Education of Cass County and worked in child care at disaster scenes from 1988 to 2004 as a service of the Church of the Brethren.
He was a Timbercrest volunteer, working int the gift shop, driving residents to medical appointments and serving as a Stephen minister. He was a lifetime member of Friends of Timbercrest.
Survivors include Ken (Dotty) Fry, Wabash, Ind., Mike (Sharon) Fry, Eaton, Ind., daughter, Cindy (James) Ritter, near Muncie, Ind., five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.
One grandchild preceded in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, Liberty Mills, with Pastor Kelly Beutler and Pastor Erin Huiras officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester.
