Joan Clear, Monon, 71, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at her residence. Joan was born July 2, 1942, in Clark County, to the late Alfred and Mary (King) Jackson. She married Gerald Clear Jan. 22, 1982, in Las Vegas.
Joan was a 1960 graduate of Silver Creek High School in Sellersburg. She worked at the Purdue University Math and Science Building for over 18 years, managed the Victorian Bay Resort at Indiana Beach, was co-owner with her husband of a convenience store and also drove semis cross-country with her husband.
Joan was a lioness in the Camden Lions Club. She enjoyed playing Bunko, fishing, mushroom hunting, traveling to 49 states and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Michael Koning (wife Kim), Romney; her husband, Gerald; stepchildren, Julie Mears (husband Tom), Delphi, Tom Clear (wife Kim), Logansport, and Jake Clear (wife Becky), Camden; siblings, Rosemary “Ro” Lantz, Monticello, Frieda Jefferson (husband Mark), Bordon, Martha Bolly (husband Tom) and Alfred Jackson (wife Rhea), Memphis, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Mike Jr., Jon, Karissa, Tony, Nic, Emily and Abigail; and great-granddaughter, Alexis.
She was preceded by sons, Patrick and Paul Koning; sister, Ruth Braden; and brother, Elmer Jackson.
Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with pastors Bob Cree and Dean Burnetts officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Rockfield.
