KOKOMO — Connie S. Johnson, 67, Kokomo, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

She was born Jan. 26, 1946, in Howard County to William C. & Betty L (Hoover) Hawkins. On May 21, 1971, in Kokomo, she married Jack L. Johnson, who preceded her in death Dec. 16, 2002.

Connie retired from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department as the Jail Commander with over 19 years service. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Galveston Volunteer Fire Department.

She is survived by sons, Mike and wife Debbie Krise, Kokomo, and Chris and wife Susan Johnson, Montgomery, Ala.; and daughter Lisa Campbell, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Heather, Austin, Garrett, Lindsay, Taylor and Ella and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Larry Hawkins and Ronnie Hawkins both of Galveston; a special friend Janet; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, brother Terry, and daughter Cathy Sue.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston. In keeping with Connie’s wishes, cremation will follow services.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Galveston and Sharpsville Volunteer Fire Departments in her honor. Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston assisted the family with arrangements.
