Nancy J. Wert, 70, Idaville, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Mission Regional Medical Center, Mission, Texas.
She was born in Lafayette Sept. 2, 1942, to the late Walter H. and Grace D. (Cornell) Mattix. She married Karl J. Wert in January of 1963. They were later divorced, and he preceded her in death April 6, 1994.
Nancy was a 1960 graduate of Idaville High School and earned an associate degree from Indiana Business College. She was employed as a bookkeeper. She attended the First Baptist Church in Monticello and was a member of Crystal Chapter 165 OES, Monticello.
She loved butterflies, being a “Winter Texan”and being outdoors. She also loved traveling and had just gotten back from a cruise. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Above all, Nancy cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Tim (Tami) Wert, Broken Arrow, Okla.; daughter, Susie (Randy) Price, Monticello; three granddaughters, Danielle, Amanda, and Samantha Wert; and two grandsons, Jered and Ethan Price.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the First Baptist Church, Monticello, with Rev. Ryan Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Idaville Cemetery. An Eastern Star service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to her grandchildren’s educational fund in care of Lakes Federal Credit Union.
