Robert J. Beeler, 88, Logansport, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in his home.

Born July 25, 1924, in Cass County, he was the son of the late George and Edith Frye Beeler. On July 25, 1943, in Indianapolis, he was married to Margaret Ruth Miller. She preceded him in death July 19, 1995.

Robert served in the U.S. Army from March 18, 1943, to November 1945. While in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, he served in Northern Solomons and Southern Phillipines. He received the Philippines Liberation ribbon, the WWII Bronze Star, the Good Conduct ribbon and the Victory Medal. He also received the WWII Combat Infantryman Badge for Rifle Marksmanship. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790.

Robert was a carpenter by trade, working with Pat Gibson.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Kimberly K. Dart and her husband Bruce and Karla K. Clem, all of Logansport; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including George and Mary Ann Beeler, Bridgeton; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Clem; one son, Steven Beeler; one grandson, Samuel Clem; one brother, Emery Beeler; and five sisters, Hazel Beeler, Maxine Waller, Nellie Gordon, Opal Newton and Goldie Johnson.

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday in Fisher Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain Dolly Bowen officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral chapel.
