Barbara J. Oliver, 83, Logansport, and formerly of Rochester, passed away at 12:33 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Pleasant Escape, Logansport.
She was born on April 14, 1931, in Cass County, the daughter of Harold and Edna (Black) Eshelman. On Dec. 25, 1947, in Young America, she married Joseph M. Oliver. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2010.
She had worked for Hart, Shaffner and Marx, Rochester, for many years and had also worked at Caston Schools in the late 1960s. She had been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she had been active in the women’s group. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing the organ and supporting Notre Dame Athletics. Most of all, she enjoyed caring for her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Hal and wife Susie Oliver, Logansport, Greg and wife Vicki Oliver, Denison, Texas, Phil and wife Cheryl Oliver, Twelve Mile, John Oliver, Logansport; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Hoffman, Fort Wayne; sister-in-law, Meta Jane Nelson, Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Robert Oliver, and sister, Jody Patty.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Scott Halterman officiating. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery, Fulton.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
